Watched the movie and came straight here. Absolutely loved most of it, but god I don’t know who I hated more—Angel or the director guy.

I still don’t think it’s fair to say that the Gordy narrative ties into the movie as a whole besides the metaphoric Easter eggs speckled within it. I didn’t like Nope as a horror movie, but I loved it from the point of production, writing and cinematography. It is a perfect allegory for cinema and chasing a dream with a lens… but its elements were all over the place for it to be considered horror. It has a good idea but was cluttered with its execution. I don’t understand why two things can’t be true.

2024-05-03 22:22:15 +0000 UTCSomething that went unmentioned (I'm sure it was due to how lengthy the script was) for me is that even though Jupe's storyline ends at the Star Lasso Experience, he gets a moment of redemption at the end when the balloon version of him is released and pops Star Jacket. In death, a version of him defeated the alien threat. Great little note on his tragic character.
