Awesome breakdown. Thank you. It’s great to kind of get a better insight after seeing it! All about honor and who is the best! Great film! Gonna check out the sequel soon!

Great reactions, guys. Steph’s body language shows what a suspenseful masterpiece this movie is. I was captivated by this movie when I was 5 years old. I watched the VHS on repeat. There are a lot of subtle things and not much dialogue. This movie shows, not tells. They sort of explained why it hunts—for sport, for the thrill of the hunt. In the beginning, we learn that an elite team was skinned/captured, and strangely, they were shooting in different directions. Why? Who knows? Then, we saw how skilled Dutch’s unit is when they ambushed the camp. They’re professionals—deadly and efficient. The Predator was just observing. You can see that it doesn’t kill randomly. It has some strange moral code or hierarchy of what’s acceptable. For example, it killed Blain (the guy with the minigun) with its own gun—so it was kind of fair: big gun vs. big gun. After that, we see how Dutch’s team ends up in the same situation as the previous team—shooting into the jungle without hitting anything, except for one bullet. Then, when Anna tried to escape, the Predator basically executed Hawkins (the guy with glasses) because he was chasing and fighting someone unarmed (and a girl). And it didn’t take his skull—just hung him upside down. Mac and Dillon tried to sneak up and kill it, so it took their skulls as trophies for being brave enough to challenge it. You can see Mac’s skull with a hole in it when the Predator looks at his trophies. Billy dropped his gun and went into melee combat with his knife. He also cut himself—a disrespectful move, leaving no honor for the Predator to draw first blood. Though off-screen, I believe the Predator also chose melee combat, then took Billy’s skull and spine as trophies. It took more of Billy because he willingly faced it one-on-one (a more worthy opponent). Then, the Predator killed Poncho because he was injured (hit by a log)—almost a mercy kill. By the end of the movie, predator and prey had swapped places. Dutch was invisible in the jungle, and the Predator was shooting blindly, not knowing where the target was. It turned out Dutch was an equal opponent, so the Predator engaged in a fistfight, dropping its mask and shoulder gun—making it a fair fight. At the very end, when Dutch asks, "Who the hell are you?", the Predator repeats the question back, as if wondering, "Who the hell are you?" (who was able to defeat me). Then it blows itself up because the Predator doesn’t want to become anyone’s trophy. Also, they never call the alien "the Predator"—that’s just the viewers assumption. In the end, it turns out that the ultimate apex predator on Earth is the human.

Predator 2 is ok, you should check it out for the lore, then watch Prey. Prey is a good prequel, well made and acted. Now on to Truman, love you guys!!!

It’s a Predator Species. They live for the hunt. They travel the galaxy looking for the best and most challenging prey to hunt. Remember seeing the skulls. Trophies.
