Ryan Gosling is so f*cking good in this movie. He really likes playing these silent characters that have a lot of internal emotions. But are effortlessly cool at the same time. I don't understand why some people say he's not a good actor because he only has one facial expression. His subtle acting is what I appreciate the most about him. He never has these emotional outbursts or over the top facial expressions that other actors have. Instead it's mostly internal and his facial reactions are very understated. Which I find very moving. The scene in the church where he's crying is a great example of that. He's just perfect for these kinds of roles. (like Drive or Blade Runner 2049). He's like a modern Steve McQueen. Btw Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are actually together since they made this movie. (2012). Married by now with two kids. At least it worked out for them in real life π
