FULL LENGTH DOCTOR SLEEP (2019) MOVIE REACTION

FULL LENGTH DOCTOR SLEEP (2019) MOVIE REACTION

I'm not a huge Shining OG fan, but I think I liked it better. The main thing tha bugged me was the Mary Sue effect that was going on until Crow gave her a shot, which obviously makes the character not really a Mary Sue, but it was enough of it for me to really dislike the character and they didn't redeem it quite yet by the end. A novice can have one, maybe two "gimmies" before the big bad or one of their minions spanks them. In this one, we have the "I can watch you and even touch your mind" at the murder then the "I can watch the convoy drive around" thing then the "get out of my mind" asswhooping then the "I can lay a trap that mostly works" thing. Three of these are with the big bad herself, which is ridiculous. It was better than all the rest of the "let's kill off the male hero and make a female one" efforts that Hollywood does to destroy classics and it was a fun enough watch, but I'm not giving it more than 2.5 stars.

oh wow really? you gotta rewatch it, because the plot was really great too. I think this is the only franchise that gets better and better. 4,5,6 are better than 1,2,3 in my opinion. But I enjoy all of them except 2. And not just because of the stunts. You should rewatch because the next one is coming in July. And I think it will be even better if you remember the important characters. πŸ˜‚ I have such high hopes for this movie 😍

Yeah I've seen all of em. LOVED Fallout when it came out. But honestly, outside of Cruise & Cavill, I couldn't tell you one single thing about the movie besides the stunts... and I assume the world was in danger lol

That may take a man and a crew with ambition, but in and of itself, I find the two and a half hours on screen to be your typical Hollywood fare. Not that there's anything wrong with that. There's a reason it's existed for so long; it works.

Jimmy Macram

I just checked - all 6 movies are on your list, so I thought you've seen them. (???) She plays a big role in the last two movies, so you definitely know her

Ninaofthe90s

Roses voice likely bothers you bc she’s doing what’s called a β€œstage Irish” accent, ie an English sorta poorly attempted Irish accent. Sometime she sounds alright, but mostly it’s incredibly forced, hence the lilting and lifting of her voice.

Well first of all I find it incredibly ambitious to make a sequel to a cult classic like The Shining - and actually pull it off. And actually take it seriously. But at the same time make it new and original. Yes of course it has some references, some scenes, but it doesn't rely on it. It doesn't even need it. And the style is significantly different. I know lots of people who liked this movie without even knowing The Shining. I'm not a fan of The Shining, but I'm a fan of this one - because I prefer Flanagan's style. He wasn't trying to imitate Kubrick but instead made it his own.And I respect that. I actually find most of his stuff pretty ambitious. The haunting of hill house was actually better than the famous classic book (also great). That almost never happens for me at least.

Ninaofthe90s

Haven't you seen mission impossible 5 and 6???😳

Ninaofthe90s

And I prefer how Kubrick made the shining over how Mike did this one.

I liked the shining better, this feels like a continuation that wasn't needed. It feels so unoriginal to me personally.

james james

You find this ambitious? Really?? In what way?

Jimmy Macram

Ahh maybe that’s where I know her from (Dune).

I loved the book (the Shining) and I loved the movie, but they were sort of separate but connected, I love them for different reasons. I feel like this movie does a great job of bridging the movie and book versions of the Shining together and creating a sequel that works for both. And the sound design... (chef's kiss)

I wouldn't say it's a conventional movie. Mostly because Mike Flanagan is an incredibly abitious director. One of the most interesting directors of the horror genre right now. He's also the creator and writer of the brilliant series "The Haunting of Hill House" and directed all 10 episodes. And this is a very ambitious movie! And just like the show I think it's incredibly well directed and shot, atmospheric, disturbing, good characters and it's well paced. I like that it takes its time and picks up the pace here and then. Some people might think it's boring but I thought it was great.

Ninaofthe90s

I suppose you're not a Rebecca Ferguson fan πŸ˜‚ you didn't like her in Dune either But maybe you liked her as Ilsa Faust in Mission Impossible 5 and 6. (she's also in the next one)

Thank you for your service πŸ‘ I was afraid to ask bc I know schedules can get hectic and I didn’t wanna pester him.
