Super super contrived… it was like a mid game of thrones s8 on a lesser show. I was not a fan of the out of nowhere, zero setup…. Plus it made the ramifications feel weak. Deaths. And now being on the run. All they had to do is set it up. I kept watching bc of the Luther Alice ♥️

Oh, I get the betrayal of Luther was too far, I'm just saying the storyline wasn't pulled out of nowhere. It was poorly executed, and that's being charitable.

Spoiler for Game of thrones!!
I hated that scene because it's not believable. Also her scenes afterwards are terrible. .. no regrets, no emotion whatsoever. She basically became crazy super villain in a few minutes. I get that Daenerys lost so much this season that she felt like she had not much left. But that' doesn't make that sudden change any better. It's pure shock value and terrible story telling. I know I'm one of many many people who hated that scene. Also: I've read the books several times, I'm a big fan, but it's completely irrelevant in this case.

The writers took a chance and instead of hinting that Ian was dirty and people being able see it coming, they went with since Ian knows Luther is more of a vigilante than cop and he goes along with it then it should be no real shock about this sudden turn.

I even buy him killing Sugarman and this other guy to a certain extent. So he can cover his tracks. But everything he's doing with Luther afterwards - it's just too much. It's like
Spoiler for Game of thrones!!!!!!
Daenerys burning down King's Landing all of a sudden killing a million people. Just because her going crazy was hinted at a couple of times or let's say named a possibility, doesn't make the sudden change believable. That's not how character development works. You have to build up to it.

I have to agree with Jimmy. That arc came out of nowhere and was very rushed. Which is why episode 4 remains my favorite of season 1.
Yeah he is shady and corrupt...but he has also been Luther's friend. That wasn't part of the act. He turned into a super villain within 10 minutes.

I can see where you're coming from Jimmy, but if you recall from an earlier episode we had illicit activity done by the character before, albeit at Luther's request. The shadiness was telegraphed.
