People just don't like anything classic to have a different take. This is still better than 99% of the sequels and remakes.

2024-10-21 04:45:47 +0000 UTCI might like it more if it were not a Halloween movie. And if someone would clean up the trash dialogue a little bit. Rob Zombie has a unique style that I appreciate and even like sometimes. The main sin in this movie is making Michael a sympathetic character with a stereotypical “serial killer” upbringing. Makes him just a wounded human being warped by circumstance. The Shape just isn’t scary anymore when we can explain his psychology. I don’t hate Rob Zombie’s version, but I think there were some missteps and missed opportunities to expand the lore without undermining the mystery of why Michael is what he is. End of thesis.

2024-10-20 08:15:24 +0000 UTCRob Zombie took away what made Michael Myers, Michael Myers. I believe that alone justifies all the hate for this movie. However, I know a lot of people do love this version and I certainly wouldn't take that from anyone. I actually do like the second one though.

Then we meet Laurie and her friends and I remember Michael is the only thing I like in this film. They build the kids up in a way that I don't care when they die, they're shitty people that are hard to care about.

2024-10-20 02:04:30 +0000 UTCI think this was a pretty good way to tell the story of Michael. Some didn't like this version but I like some of Rob zombies movies anyway and his approach to making films. I hate what they did with Halloween ends but I did enjoy the kills a lot in Halloween kills.
