Here's the second of the two practice sketch studies I did today! This one is messier, because rather than trying to get used to Gideon's face, I was practicing his body, plus his size in relation to Judy, who is the other star in this little story.
Next up is some practice of Judy at various sizes, which I plan on doing tomorrow!

Unless I'm doing a comic/pack of characters I'm really familiar with, I usually do some practice sketches/studies of the main characters before I start the comic itself. This helps me draw it quicker, and be more consistent.
Here's some practice with Gideon, who unlike Judy, I haven't drawn yet! I'm enjoying the Zootopia style so much...I'm really excited for this comic!!

Here's how I start my comic making process! In order to get the story and the layout down, I thumbnail everything in a small notebook. I always wind up making changes, but the idea here is to get the panels, expressions, poses, and gist of the dialogue.
I've just finished doing this for the whole comic, and will be posting three of these thumbnails today!
