Been a while since I've done one of these 😅.
I've already shown off most of the new features I've been working on on the Discord server at one point or another, but since not everyone's on there, here's an overview of the progress for the last few months:
Some more update news on the Filmmaker side of things!
I've been making good progress on the new animation system. The new system allows animating arbitrary properties and is easily extensible (via Lua), which means it can be made to animate pretty much anything:
I've been working on a bunch of organizational changes, some of which will affect the supporter rewards going forward:
Hey all!
It's about time for another update post 😅! Most of the new changes are available in the preview version already, but I'm also planning on bumping up the non-preview versions later this month. Prelewd will also get another new update soon, hopefully some time this week.
Fur / Hair Improvements
I've added a bunch of improvements to the fur/hair gener...

Sorry for the late post, I was going to create it a few days ago, but a few things got in the way 😅. Anyway, here's what's new:
LuxCoreRender
LuxCoreRender is now fully integrated and can be selected in the render settings in the latest preview update! It will be the primary renderer from now on and it also comes with a few new fe...
2021-03-01 14:33:17 +0000 UTC View PostHey all, it's that time of the month again! 😄
So, turns out VR is a little more taxing than I thought, so my performance improvements from last time weren't quite enough and I had to put some more time into general performance improvements to the Engine to ensure everything runs smoothly both in VR and without VR. I'm quite happy with the results this time t...
2021-01-31 22:45:17 +0000 UTC View PostHey all! Here's another quick overview of what's currently being worked on 😋
LuxCoreRender
I've added support for LuxCoreRender, which is a pathtracing rendering engine like Cycles. (You can see some example renders on their official website: https://luxcorerender.org/gallery/) 2020-12-18 21:06:56 +0000 UTC View Post
I've been working on some Sims-style radial/pie menus to replace the drop-down menus for character customization:

Hey all!
I already mentioned in my last post I was going to launch a new project to try and finance the Filmmaker in the long run, so here we go!
I'm launching a new project called "Prelewd", which is a 3D porn simulator with VR capabilities and support for SFM an...
2020-10-31 09:29:08 +0000 UTC View PostThis is something I've really wanted to do for a while, and it turned out much better than I expected: I've implemented an animation retargeting system, which allows you to map the skeleton of one model onto another. Effectively this means that you can switch out the model you've used for one of your animations with a completely different one very easily.<...
2020-10-15 20:06:35 +0000 UTC View PostApologies for the long wait since my last post. I've made a bunch of changes and improvements to my implementation of the Cycles renderer, which is always time consuming since there's no proper developer documentation available for it, but I think it was worth it. 😅
I've more or less revamped my entire implementation for the Cycles renderer and added a buch of new features (as sh...

2020-08-18 14:48:26 +0000 UTC View PostHey guys!
I haven't posted any updates recently since I've mostly been busy with some internal engine updates that I can't really show very well, but here's a rough overview of some of the recent changes:
This is something I've been working towards on the side for a while, but it's now (almost) complete. You can now switch between using a Vulkan or ...

I've added an external render tool which can be used as an alternative to rendering in Pragma. Here's how it works:
1) You load your session in PFM like usual
2) You set up the scene for rendering and create a "render job" by pressing a button
3) Instead of ...

Better late then never, here's finally the full Meet the Soldier short, rendered with Cycles (+Pragma for the particle systems)! It won't be the final render, since there's still a lot of room for improvement, but I think it came out pretty good for the most part 😊.
I've also created another comparison video between the SFM and PFM versions:
Hey all!
I'd love to say that I'm done with particles, but they've proven to be a bit more finicky than I'd like. I ended up having to rewrite parts of my particle system implementation (as well as the implementation for animated textures) to properly support Source Engine particles, and I still haven't quite nailed it yet, but I'm getting there. Here are some comparisons between Pragma a...

I'm working on a bunch of stuff simultaneously at the moment, so I don't have anything complete to show, but here's a general overview of what's being worked on:

Hey all!
Here's the material editor I was talking about in my last post 😋 . Its purpose is primarily to make the import of texture assets as easy as possible, as well as allow you to edit PBR properties on the fly.
Textures can be added (or replaced) via drag-and-drop and ambient occlusion can be automatically generated. It also supports specular PBR workflow textures (in which c...

Apologies for the lack of posts lately, I've been very busy working on the import/export capabilities, but it wasn't something I could show off very well until now.
That being said, these features are now complete and fully integrated into the Filmmaker (and available in the preview version). You can export models and animations (including morph targets and SFM-animations), as well as imp...
2020-04-14 19:58:47 +0000 UTC View PostA lot of people have been asking for a proper model exporter for Pragma recently, so I've decided to implement support for exporting models in the glTF file format. It's standardized and specifically tailored for PBR assets, which makes the import into other PBR Engines/Blender particularly easy. Textures (including normal ma...
