2025... oh dear.

So I finally finished peak at Amazon for 2024. It's six or so weeks of busy busy busy but tonight is the last night of it so things should be better. I have deep concerns for the upcoming year, but that's political and I try not to talk about that here. Suffice to say I hope everyone gets through it all in one piece. It's going to be a ride.

Where's Somber?

So long story short, 2024 has been a lot. I went to Everfree in July, and seemed to anger some primordial god for an unknown transgression. I've had covid, heart and blood pressure issues, and an e. coli infection. I also got a promotion which sounds good till it takes up an extra hour or two out of my day. I moved into a new apartment unit. Then there was the election.

So June was okay. Got the new FF14 expansion. Highly recommend. They laid out a good starting path for the next arc of the game. Also finally finished the next chapter of Homelands. I'm going to be putting it up on Monday, but you all deserve a good first peek.

No, I'm not dead.  I got through peak with great difficulty due to work putting me in a rather onerous position.  Basically, I keep the robots at the warehouse running, so if something falls on the floor I have to go and get it.  Clean up spills.  Reset robots.  Some times it's busy as heck and other times it's boring as heck.  Normally it's not that bad... but sin...

RIP Panda and Ciderfest

So Panda Bear died on the 30th.  It was pretty hard but when the vet told me she had kidney failure there wasn't much point in prolonging it.  She was my baby, and it's hard coming home and she's not here.  she provided so much structure and attention and interaction and love... but she's gone now and I'll have to deal.  My family's working to get me a replacement dog in a f...

So August and September happened.  My car got hit.  I've been dealing with cluster headaches.  The medicine for the headaches is knocking me out way more than usual.  My depression's been spiking.  Panda's worrying me.  It's been a lot of things one after the other.  October's a bad month for me too.  Lot of bad happened in October.

So a little good news and mostly meh news.  Good news is that I got trained to do the robots job.  It's actually not that hard.  When the robots mess up or something messes up the robots, I go out and fix the problem.  So sometimes I'm running my butt off and sometimes I do other work till something does go wrong.  Good news is that it's allow my hands to heal up a lot....

Okay.  So I finally have 2023... maybe not resolved but going in the direction I want...  so I can tell you what a nightmare February was.

So at the end of January, I was fired without explanation or warning.  One day I was told I was going to be made permanent, the next that 'seasonal' could go on all the way to JULY, up to 11 months, the next that I was doing a great job....
