TH - Chapter 17 - Power Couple

I cleared the entire monowire barrier before moving forward. Better to remove it, than risk blocking, or killing, someone that may try to escape through this area before it dissolved naturally. While I was clearing the way Skyler was cleaning up the bodies, so by the time I was done we were ready to move again.

I slowly advanced upon the square, the rest of ...

TBoB - Book 3 - Chapter 12 - A City Survey

I.. uh... don't know if I like this this chapter or not yet. It took a long time to put together, and it feels kinda... meh to me. It keeps the plot moving forward... I'll look it again later, and if I really don't like it I'll rewrite it the next writing day.

I reclined in one of the massively comfortable chairs on the bridge of the Marsupial, as I mentally chec...

TH - Chapter 16 - Obstructed Traffic

I hadn’t really looked at Skyler’s gear until she stripped off her coat. What I originally thought was heavy armor was actually just lightly armored, rugged clothing, with an armored duster overtop; She also had an armored gasmask to cover her face. It vaguely reminded me of the old post apocalyptic shows and movies she liked to watch.

Once she was suite...

“The bear’s feet go tom tom tom, tom tom tom, tom tom tom, the bear’s feet got tom tom tom, as they go marching round!” Issi sang as she danced around the living room. Since I was fully reclined on the couch, and had no intention of getting up, I had to watch her bizarre performance.

“Issi… what are you doing?” I finally mumbled after her third renditio...

TH- Chapter 15 - Personal Protective Device

Yes, there are callouts in this chapter to Maniac and Spark of Sylvan Flame. I didn't do it much in TBoB (mostly because so many started after) so I wanted to do it more in TH

As soon as we sat back down Skyler turned to me. “I can’t believe you’re leaving most of your purchases up to your AI. Before we leave this APC I’m going to force you to buy at least one fun, in...

TBoB - Book 3 - Chapter 10 - The Full Picture

So... I wasn't sure about this chapter at the start, but I think it worked out in the end. Suprise! Can you figure out where this storyline is going yet? I got the idea from Cyberpunk originally, and when I asked birb about it he was all for it, so here we are.

As I followed Mirage through the halls, I couldn’t help but notice how tired everyone was. Mirage wasn’t the onl...

TH - Chapter 14 - Catching up

Unrealistic? Maybe, but I like having both women becoming samurai at the same time. This allows me to explore a samurai romantic relationship (something lacking from many of my other stories)

I stared at my girlfriend for several seconds, my brain struggling to process the situation. “Aren’t you supposed to be in court right now?” I finally asked, like an idiot.

TBoB - Book 3 - Chapter 9 - Gone to Pieces

When I stepped out of the processor, and back onto the street, things were a lot calmer than before. That probably had to do with the half dozen armored vehicles parked around the area and the practical army surrounding them.

Helen just looked at me. “You don’t do subtle, do you?” she asked.

“I gave up trying months ago. About the sa...

TH - Chapter 13 - The longest block

TH first today, because I'm thinking about releasing it at the end of the month, and doing daily releases until it's almost done. I'm far enough ahead that I don't need two TBoB chapters on writing days, but I'm still going to attempt them.

I managed to wedge one foot between a wide gap between two armor plates, and the other against the hatch. It was enough to keep me fairly...

TH - Chapter 12 - Hard Rain

“You okay over there?” Ratchet asked, as she crossed the room, carefully avoiding the bodies on the floor. “You seemed a little… out of there for a minute.” The woman reached out to put a hand on my shoulder, causing me to inadvertently flinch and move away slightly.

“Sorry,” I muttered. “Apparently I accidentally sliced open that fours phero...

TBoB - Book 3 - Chapter 8 - Chasing a ghost

So... I started thinking maybe I'd give the bears their personalities from well known games and media. As many have noticed Spooky is very much a WH40k comissioner. Bob is very much a lovable 80s sidekick. Can you guess who this is supposed to be? (Note: I need to do more research on slang for the future.)

The gun on top of our ride opened up a good two minutes before we arrived at our destination. I could see Emily swerving back and forth in the gunner seat, struggling to keep track of all the targets.

When the vehicle began to slow, I stood by the exit and waited for Emily’s signal to drop the ramp. It took a lot longer for her to clear the area than I expec...

TBoB - Book 3 - Chapter 7 - Bar Fight

I slowly grabbed a piece of loose rebar leaning against the wall, without taking my eyes off the blurry indistinct shape. For some reason the person didn’t immediately try to rush me, or run, they just kinda slunk back further into the room. It was a dead end, so I wasn’t quite sure what the point was. Maybe they didn’t think I could follow their movements, or they thought there was anoth...

TBoB - Book 3 - Chapter 6 - The Fires of Destruction

So interesting tidbit... I had a pretty clear idea of where this arc was going, but I didn't have a clear idea of what kind of sabotage could cripple the corps in Calgary. I honestly considered having the answer be uranium mills, and the enemy going after the power, but that seemed too far even for the corps (cant use cheap labour if you kill them all) so I settled on something else... I figure...

TH - Chapter 10 - Rough Riders

So, after thinking about it, I'll probably be going back and rewriting chapter 8 and 9 later, to add a little more snark to Reina's dialog. She's far to passive compared to how I pictured her before, even though she's meeting a vetrean samurai. Won't be major plot changes, just bring Reina's dialog more in line. I'll try and remember to update the preview, and let you know when it's done.

TBoB - Book 3 - Chapter 5 - Aggitation

I didn’t know exactly what to say to Helen as she knelt in front of her friend, mourning. After a couple minutes she stood up, whipped her face off, and turned towards me. “We need to find out who did this,” she declared angrily.

“According to this note,” I said, flashing the crumpled piece of paper, “he was killed for trying to intervene in the riots.”...

ILBA - Chapter 5

So this chapter both took me much longer than expected, and is shorter than expected. The problem being, this was kind of a necessary chapter, but both school and introductions are hard when the characters are six. I think it turned out fine, and now we can get to the more intresting chapters of Issi and Lulu getting a gang together and having adventures.

While the other kids we...

Questions about the direction for TBoB

Howdy all!

So since there are a couple chapters of TBoB Book 3 out, I wanted to get peopes feedback on it so far.

As you may have guessed it's not planned to be an antithesis arc, but despite Helen being involved and someone being dead, it's not supposed to be a vigilante arc either. If anything it's meant to be an investigation arc, similar to the sewer dragons from SCS, with a l...

About ten minutes later a whole convoy of vehicles rolled up to the front of the Jewelry store. Two additional armored vehicles, a couple jeeps, and a half dozen trucks already laden with people. TH - Chapter 8 - Something to Aspire to

So quick note: There's mention of a battleship, the Redmption, in this chapter. This is one of the things I'm going to go back and add to chapter 5ish... along with a description of the sky. The redemption is a samurai battleship that is litterally firing into the rifts, from the harbor.

Also: Cameo!

TBoB - Book 3 - Chapter 3 - Those Lucky Few

I flew to sector Eighty-Two in my truck. I briefly considered taking a Kodiak, but unlike the northern sectors, the south did occasionally see truck traffic, so I decided to try and keep it low key. I had Nyx whip up a set of armored clothing ahead of time, and made sure it was sufficiently soiled before I left so I wouldn’t draw much attention to myself.

So this turned out shorter than I expected, and even after trying to artificially extend it a little, it's still short of the 1.5k I aim for. I'll probably go back and see where I can expand it later but the meat of the chapter, the conversation, got across what I wanted. I expect the release chapter will be different, but not by much.

TH - Chapter 7 - A handful of Prickly Hugs

I checked myself out in the mirror as soon as I put on my new synth leather jacket and pants. They both looked good, and were a lot more practical to run around in than my previous attire. More importantly they hid the under suit, which was both a lot more comfortable, and a lot more revealing, than I had expected. It was like the thing shrunk to perfectly hug all my curves as soon a...

I gasped as the security gate exploded inward, disgorging a wave of antithesis upon the concourse, led by the Model Six.

“I don’t think I have the time for options, gimme something to clear the horde now!” I snarled as I sprinted away from the horde as fast as I could.

SCS plans going forward (and minor possible story spoils)

So over the last few days I've been considering what to do about my SCS fanfictions.

I didn't really want to release two different ones at once, but I do want to work on Tarnished a little, without dropping TBoB, so starting today I'm going to write one chapter of each, and see how that goes.

What I expected to be a short sprint down the street turned into an exercise of frustration as my legs occasionally spasmed, or failed to react the way I expected.
