Hunger Games Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes RAW REACTION

The big question is....Will this movie makes us more sympathetic, empathetic, and or understanding of Snow? Well ya'll have to watch the video and see. I am curious to know your thoughts about Snow though. Did this movie make you understand him more? Or do you have the same energy for his character that you had in all of the other films? I know I typed a mouthful but I hope you enjoy the uncut reaction!

Hunger Games Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes RAW REACTION

Comments

Don't know if anyone's mentioned that Haymitch's GF - Lenore Dove Baird - at the time of his Hunger Games was a Baird and a Covey, at least partly. May be a relative of Lucy Gray Baird. Lucy Gray left behind one living relative in District 12 - her much younger cousin Maude Ivory, also a singer. His GF may have been a descendent of this cousin. And I think Katniss' mother was a cousin of this Baird, making Katniss a distant relative of Lucy Gray and a Covey. It's interesting that Katniss' father taught her the Hanging Tree song.- a song written by Lucy Gray. So can be from male not female lineage. Guess we'll know more when we get Haymitch backstory.

Gentlemen- the genius of The Hunger Games IS showing the reality that what ultimately keeps us down is the class/caste system. Racism, sexism, all the isms, keep us all in the churn (Addison - that's a reference from The Expanse.) We all fighting each other, hating on each other, those at the bottom hungry, those in the middle just getting by, paycheck to paycheck, but even those up top (but not quite in the 1%) still in the churn struggling for the scraps the moneyed class allow us to have. Very few emerge from the churn (the victors) and then there are those powerful wealthy folks who've never stepped a toe in the churn due to the privileges of generational wealth or inherited wealth or true genius at something or another (sports, acting, technology). The films are a metaphor. The ultimate problem we have is our class system. But we all too busy fighting to see that. How else to explain what's happened and is happening in our political system? This is why race, ethnicity, how tall or small you are, gender, sexual preference - are irrelevant in The Hunger Games. It's all about the $$$.

I don't like the singing it throws it off imo for some reason probably her facial expressions like she was trying to hard

I would legit buy a specific patreon tier just to watch them react to Hamilton 🤣

Highbottom had good intentions but the only thing I really don’t blame Coryo for is killing him, that man was ruining his life at every turn just because of who his daddy was and told him he hated him on multiple occasions, like what😭

AllyBoo124

I keep commenting every time yall bring up a new point😭 I’d argue that high bottom pushed snow to become the worst version of himself, snow didn’t know about him and his father’s past history. And because Coryo looked so much like his father High bottom took out his disgust, regret, and anger on him making him want to be the “best” which in the capitol can only make you heartless. Instead of trying to mentor his former best friend’s son who lost his father at a very young age he became his adversary which didn’t help snow’s development, highbottom really only fueled the evil he wanted to end with the way he treated snow.

AllyBoo124

It’s yall being so upset cuz he looks so drippy every time stylist went crazy with him

AllyBoo124

Something important to remember Coryo doesn’t like sejanus fr fr he looks down upon him before he’s district he definitely got close to him because he couldn’t shake him, but that’s not his dawg fr sejanus becomes an inconvenience for him

AllyBoo124

Sejanus “I don’t need you to save me coryo” also sejanus “coryo! Help! Coryo! Help” like bruh😭

AllyBoo124

I think sejanus was noble and had the right idea but he was incredibly incredibly naive and because of that I couldn’t stand him. He does whatever he wants thinking that there will be no real consequences because he’s never faced any real consequences. Even when snow comes to get him he’s like I thought they’d send my Ma, he fully expected people to come for him and not get hurt. Snow is poor and fighting for his life trying to keep up the act, he gets an exile sentence for 20 years and sejanus decides he wants to do it to for fun, like this is not a fun situation. He keeps getting himself into terrible situations because he has such an idealistic view of the world and the way things should be, so snow was wrong for ratting him out but thinking of all the times he had to have sejanus’s back or be known as his friend I wouldn’t wanna go down for his stupidity either. I don’t think Coryo thought they’d actually kill him but even when sejanus was screaming for his mom it broke my heart but it just further proved my point of him yelling for mommy and daddy to come save him.

AllyBoo124

Fun fact about the actress that plays Lucy gray she’s been on broadway and is an amazing singer obviously but she started as a stage actor

AllyBoo124

I genuinely think Snow was assuming that Sejanus's daddy would just buy his way out again, as he said when he was telling him that he didn't want to hear about the rebel plans. Snow is crazy and evil, but Sejanus was delusional when it came to everything that was happening. He didn't feel truly in danger until he was about to be hanged because there was always someone there to save him. Obviously, Snow doesn't go on to regret it as he pretty much lives a sweet life after by plotting on everyone around him because that's who he's always been. A snake.

I second this!!

That’s the truth!! I bet they would love it!

I’ll be honest. This movie made me so angry. It took me weeks to get over it. How DARE they make me feel for him. No wonder Katniss set him off more than anyone else ever had. The female tribute from 12 was already going to irritate him, every year. I still have no sympathy for him with regards to the Hunger Games movies but this book/movie? Man. In the book they really played into his getting in tight with Sejanus’ family at the end. Such a nasty and gross character but would he have been if not for the war? He lived in the Capitol instead of the districts. Was he born bad or nurtured that way? Now, all I want is a book telling Haymitch and his games.

Christina Matzen

I must say that the most disturbing scene for me was the jabberjays repeating Sejanus' last words, it was so chilling hearing him cry out for his mother
