Sketches of Paizuri University Prologue

Today we are sharing some of the concept sketches that we used to create the final images for the Prologue of Paizuri University!

For Paizuri University, we wanted the girl’s design to be cute, but also a bit mischievous. Her personality (without spoilers) was something that heavily drove her appearance, such as expressions and clothing. She has a name, but it’s kind of a punchline that gets revealed in Chapter 1. 

All of the scenes I’ve drawn are based off of simple prototype images created by Zuripai Sama, which acted as a (really) rough template to base the poses I drew. Which are... interesting, I guess is a nice way to put it! We will show them in a future post, so you can see how interesting they actually are ; ). Zuripai also helped in the design of the characters and scenes, giving feedback and direction as I drew each iteration of sketches.

We had a lot of fun doing it. 

We had originally planned to release Chapter 1 first, designing the characters and figuring out the story for that chapter and the direction we were taking. 

But after discussing it, we decided to create the Prologue first, and focus on one character and less scenes, to test the waters and get some early feedback. We are both working a day job as well, so it made more sense to start with something a little smaller.

Zuripai and I started talking a year ago about creating adult games, and it was then that I started developing and refining my art style towards the style I am using today. I’m happy with the style now, but hopefully it will continue to develop and refine itself over time!
