Dear Patrons,

Hope you're still enjoying the warm summer months. I'm finally back in Viborg, after some time in Copenhagen catching up with friends and family and getting a change of scenery. It's nice to be back now! Let's see what we have on the program...

TALES OF ZALE WEB-EPISODE 3:

Though it went a bit slower during the Copenhagen stay, I've still been making progress on the web episode. The shot-based % numbers are starting to look up there:

I've been working a bit broadly across scenes, but I decided to pick this small action scene between Elva and Morpheus as this month's preview since it has most of the backgrounds and coloring done now. It's still missing all the rain, other effects, and compositing though. Compositing is going to be relatively fast once I get started, but I can already now tell that there's going to be a bottle-neck coming up once I have to export all the shots' different layers. I might just have to brace myself, but I'll look into ways of automatizing the export as much as possible. I know there have been a few different scripts over time that may be worth having a look at. There are still some more backgrounds and clean-up-color to be done first though, so one thing at a time!

TALES OF ZALE TV-SERIES DEVELOPMENT:

I've gotten a spot back at Open Workshop, since they did  a TV-series specific call that I just couldn't resist. For it, they have provided a real neat consultant who has given me some very nice feedback on the episode synopses and sample scripts I wrote for Tales of Zale during the 3 months of funded writing. In most industry professionals' eyes they seem to be pretty solid, but we've still come up with a few points of improvements. I'll be working on these improvements during these coming months together with a brand new pitch bible! Initially, we had planned to apply for further funding for development, but after reviewing our current material the team and I came to the conclusion that we've actually got a pretty strong pitch foundation already. So, once summer vacation comes to an end we are slowly but surely going to start approaching broadcasters directly. I'm really excited about that, so I'm going to put lots of work into this new pitch package!

SKETCHES:

I realize I don't post a lot of sketches here, since a lot of my drawing time is spent on webisode production. But this month, I thought I'd round off with a few. Some are little outtakes from character poses for the pitch, and others are just pages from my sketchbook.

Oh, and I also made a few new Zale emojis for our Discord server! You can check them all out there if you haven't already

ROUNDUP:

We're back at it with full energy and a mission! I hope you enjoy your July and I'll be back at it with news in August. Till then!

- Sif

PS: In case you didn't see, I just finally posted the list of writing resources I used during the 3 months of Tales of Zale writing. Feel free to check it out if that's something you're interested in.

Dawww I love the little Sesam pic! Looks like you've been experimenting with the designs some more. Zale really seems to like neckerchiefs :)
