2018-01-13 14:33:59 +0000 UTC View PostNew video on how hunger works during fasting. I know another video I did sort of already covers this (the Ghrelin part) but I thought it would be good to present everything together in the context of what is causing hunger when fasting (and in general).

Questions/comments/suggestions welcome as always!
Quick video on turmeric. I tried to spice up the editing this time, hopefully it makes it more engaging. Script is attached with links to sources.
I actually take turmeric relatively often even though I rarely drink. It really does help a lot with inflammation so basically any situation I would want to use an advil in, I just use turmeric instead. It also helps with cheat days - you feel le...
Hey everyone,
I got a lot of great input last time when asking about the logo. It seemed like visibility was a big point and, the cursive one I currently have is hard to make out - especially when viewed as a thumbnail. So, I've come up with something sharper. I'm going to with one of the three below - would be great to hear what y'all think:
#1 (My favorite, but not as good contrast...
2017-12-20 01:53:26 +0000 UTC View PostMaybe y'all have already got the update, but just wanted to share. If you're not in the loop:
-New payment system they were going to roll out was going to negatively affect patrons by charging them +30 cents for every pledge (meaning if you like to support many creators here and there, your fees would get way higher)
-Was a lot of pushback as this wouldn't be good for patrons or creators...
Hey everyone,
I'm getting back into this topic and am looking to make a "guide" video. Basically explaining what to expect when doing IF, how to make easier and more effective.
Who has tried it and what problems have you ran into?
Or, if there's anything you're particularly curious about that you would like to hear address I'd be happy to know that.

Hey everyone,
Y'all brought up a lot of great points in my last post about whether I should change the channel name so I'm sticking with it. However, the logo does need some work and you may have noticed that I've updated it. (Youtube is kind of weird with updating the thumbnail so maybe you haven't seen it - for me it shows up when I'm writing a comment, but not on my channel and not on t...

Put a lot of time into this one, really hope y'all enjoy it
Hey everyone,
I'm working on the free will video and it's getting to be pretty long - will probably have it out around next Friday.
I've also been thinking about changing the name of my channel, it's not catchy in the least. I guess I could either:
(a) Just use my name: Joseph Everett / Joseph Everett - What I've Learned / Joseph Everett (WIL)
(b) Come up with something m...
Hey sorry for the delay everyone!

Hey everyone, I'm sure everyone's familiar with this to some degree, and it's been fucking with my brain for a while now, but I want to try and see if there's anything I can do before December 14th.

Hi there,
Here's a quick run down of my process (originally posted on Nov 17 - update coming soon!)
I threw together a google document that goes somewhat in depth into my not so organized process that somehow leads to a video.

Question: Do we have free will?
How I'll define free will for the purposes of this poll: Free will is the ability to act at one's own discretion & one's motivations for action are "willed" into existence by the self.
For example: In my case, I could make the decision to quit making youtube videos and start taking lessons to become a singer at any time, regardless of my circumst...
Hi everyone,
Thanks for the wait, I'm sure y'all have been waiting for me to get into a new topic, especially after 3 straight videos on Salt. I over-researched this one so a bunch of stuff didn't make it in.
While working on this, I re-watched David Foster Wallace's commencement speech . He really hi...
Hey everyone, I tried doing a more proper listing of sources in the transcript this time.
2017-10-18 17:18:25 +0000 UTC View PostHey everyone, as mentioned at the end of my last video, my next video is a more detailed look at what about our physiology makes low salt a burden on the body. There's a big number of effects that result from eating low salt - too many to fit in one more video.
So, this time I'm going to focus on something called the renin angiotensin aldosterone system and natriuretic peptides. [SPOILER: ...
Hey everyone,
Quick question: Has anyone here been looking into resistant starches much? I haven't read too much about them and my vague understanding of them was that they do some good in terms of helping out your GI microbiome, but I still tended to avoid them because I figured the carbohydrate content would kick me out of ketosis. However, my brother came to Japan recently and I used th...
Hey everyone, I'm back!
Sorry for the long radio silence. I'll post an update sometime soon, (probably after I get some sleep) and get back to the messages I've missed.
Thanks for being awesomely patient as always, I hope this topic is interesting for y'all as much as it has been for me. Looking forward to hear what you think.
Quite satisfied with this Audio Technica ATR2100 USB mic - decent priced mic for anyone wanting to do narration. it gets a more "narration" sound than the AT2020. The AT2020 picked up sound too well - you could hear every little click of the tongue or rustle of my clothes. And yes, the pop filter is held up by a spice bottle

2017-07-03 03:36:21 +0000 UTC View PostHey everyone, just thought I'd share something I posted to FB about this new health documentary. It was interesting but raised a lot of red flags. While promoting a virtuous message, it seemed quite unreasonable in a lot of areas. Of course processed meats from animals raised in inhumane conditions and fed an unnatural diet of corn and grain is terrible for health. However, what if the animal is f...

I've been reading a lot on Ketogenic diets / benefits of Ketone bodies (i.e work by Jeff Volek, Stephen Phinney, Dominic D'Agostino etc.) and am constantly impressed by the potential of ketones.
My diet has steadily decreased carbs more and more over the past 3 years or so, and I've really gotten into intermittent fasting (eating once per day) for about a year now. Ev...

Re: Muscle Wasting
(On this video, it would have been better to spend more time clarifying the point around 1:30 about muscle wasting)
I talk about how the body is trying to preserve energy, and so it will try to minimize processes that burn calories and save the calories it has. So, it will burn muscle for e...
Hey all,

-Cold exposure (for me) is an excellent form of meditation because you have immediate feedback of whether you are meditating effectively. If you're properly focused, you're detached from the cold, if you're letting your mind drift to other th...
